Dear Hopkinson,
I have been asked to send the enclosed copy
of a despatch from Hong Kong about the ju. Trai question
for Sir John Simon's information, since Sir Philip
Cunliffe-Lister knows that Sir John Simon takes a close
personal interest in this matter.
In his letter to Sir Philip of the 13th of May,
Sir John Simon mentioned that he would like to have an
opportunity of hearing about this question from Sir
William Peel, the Governor of Hong Kong when he arrived on
leave. Sir William has now arrived home and his addrets
is as follows:-
Sir William Peel, KCMG., KBE.
23, Tite Street,
Chelsea, S.V. 3.
(Telephone, Flaxman 0924).
If, therefore, Sir John Simon still wishes to
see Sin William Peel, perhaps you would get into touch
H.L. d'A. Hopkinson, Esq.,
